IRS Makes Changes to Offshore Programs; Revisions Ease Burden and Help More Taxpayers Come into Compliance The Internal Revenue Service announced major changes in its offshore voluntary compliance programs, providing new options to help both taxpayers residing overseas and those residing in the United States. The changes are anticipated to provide thousands of people a new avenue to come into compliance with their U.S. tax obligations. Read the statement of IRS Commissioner John Koskinen on the Offshore Account Compliance Program 2. Office of Professional Responsibility Issues Revisions to Circular 230 The IRS Office of Professional Responsibility has published revisions to Circular 230, affecting attorneys, accountants, Enrolled Agents and other tax professionals. 3. Employee Plans Phone Forum Set for June 26 Register for the June 26 employee plans phone forum to discuss the impact of the Supreme Court's decision in United States vs. Windsor, Revenue Ruling 2013-17 and Notice 2014-19 on qualified retirement plans. The Phone Forum will also address the Frequently Asked Questions posted on the IRS website that relate to the Windsor decision and qualified retirement plans. Please email your questions by June 19.
