2014 FSA COUNTY COMMITTEE ELECTION The nomination period for the 2014 COC elections began June 15th. Nominations are being sought for LAA 1, consisting of townships: Spring Grove, Emerson, Reuben, Sappa, and Orleans. An information meeting regarding the COC election process will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 in the Harlan County FSA Office at 1:00 p.m. Farmers and Rancher are able to select themselves or others as candidates for election to serve on the local county committee. Members of the committee deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Nominations for election must be completed on form FSA-669A. Contact your local FSA Service Center to pick up a form or visit http://www.fsa.usda.gov to find the form on line. The nomination period runs through August 1, 2014.
Livestock Forage Program (LFP) LFP provides compensation to eligible livestock producers who have suffered grazing losses due to drought in Harlan County. The program is retroactive to cover eligible losses for 2012 and 2013. If you have not signed up, please contact the Harlan County FSA office for an appointment. For eligible grazing losses that occurred after September 30, 2011, and before January 1, 2015, eligible livestock producers may sign-up for LFP beginning April 15, 2014 must complete CCC-853 and required supporting documentation no later than January 30, 2015. Foreign Investors Foreign investors who buy, sell, or hold a direct or indirect interest in U.S. agricultural land must report their holdings and transactions to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Foreign investors are required to complete the FSA-153 form. This form can be obtained from the local FSA office or on line. Questions?
