Restart of Transition Incentives Program (TIP)

TIP assists with the transition of expiring Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land from a retired or retiring owner or operator to a beginning, veteran, or socially disadvantaged farmer or rancher to return land to production for sustainable grazing or crop production.  Retired or retiring owners or operators who qualify under TIP may be eligible to receive annual rental payments for up to 2 additional years after the CRP-1 expiration date.

Beginning, veteran, or socially disadvantaged farmers or ranchers interested in participating in this program are encouraged to place an advertisement on TIP Net.  Click here to start.

County Committee Nominations

The 2014 County Committee election nomination period is now open and runs through August 1, 2014.  All nominations must be either postmarked or received in the office before the close of business that day.  The Local Administrative Area (LAA) that is up for election is LAA #1 which includes the townships of Sterling, Vesta, and Western.

To be eligible to serve on a Farm Service Agency county committee, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election, and reside in the local administrative area in which the person is a candidate.  Producers may nominate themselves or others and organizations representing minorities and women also may nominate candidates. To become a candidate, an eligible individual must sign the nomination form FSA-669A. The form and other valuable information about FSA county committee elections are available online at: http://www.fsa.usda.gov/elections or you may visit any local FSA office to obtain a copy.

The Johnson County FSA Office will be holding a COC election informational meeting in the service center on July 24, 2014 at 9:00 am.
