2014 ACREAGE REPORTS

Producers are reminded that accurate and timely acreage reports are important and can prevent loss of benefits for some programs.  July 15, 2014 is the deadline for reporting corn, soybeans, grain sorghum and CRP.  Prevented planting acreages are required to be submitted no later than 15 calendar days after final planting.


CONSERVATION RESERVE PROGRAM

Sign-up for the Continuous Conservation Reserve Program began June 9, 2014 and offers for acceptance will end on September 30, 2014.

General Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) participants with contracts expiring on September 30, 2014 may request an extension for one year if the current contract period is 14 years or less.  Participants may also offer land for re-enrollment under continuous CRP sign-up if all eligibility requirements are met.

Kansas CIty will be mailing letters directly to producers with CRP contracts expiring on September 2014 with the options available.


JUNE MONTHLY INTEREST RATES

Interest rates for June 2014 are as followings:

Commodity-1.125%

Operating-2.250%

Microloans-available up to $35,000-2.250%


RURAL YOUTH LOANS

The Farm Service Agency makes loans to rural youths to establish and operate income-producing agricultural-related projects in connection with 4-H clubs, FFA and other agricultural groups.  Projects must be planned and operated with the help of the organization advisor, produce sufficient income to repay the loan and provide the youth with practical business and educational experience.  The maximum loan amount is $5,000.
